Family constellations uses a systemic approach to healing. It has the opportunity to bring into awareness the current family dynamics and unhealthy unconscious patterns. Patterns are present because of the current family system or from an older generation. These patterns are working at an unconscious level, trying to bring forth and see the unresolved problem. These patterns can be behavioural, emotional, or cognitive and can also create disease within the body. A family constellation provides an understanding of the issue and then a peaceful resolution can be the end result. leaving the client free to live there life without being entangled with an ancestor. (a burden that has been unconsciously carried for an ancestor)
A Family Constellation workshop is when a group of people come together, either to be a client or a representative within the constellation.
This work can heal issues with relationships, health problems both physical and emotional, difficulties with success, release old trauma, and stop unhealthy patterns.
A Family Constellation has the power to heal generations of suffering quickly and effectively.
Bert Hellinger is the founder of this work, he has studied and treated families with this work for more than 50 years. Hellinger found that each member of our family holds a special place and has an equal right to belong to the family system. This applies equally to stillborn and aborted babies, as well as to the failures and perpetrators in our family who may have been rejected for reasons of immorality, criminal misconduct or abuse. If any member of the family is disrespected, forgotten, excluded, or disregarded in some way, someone in a later generation may repeat his or her fate by sharing a similar misfortune. Only when we acknowledge and honour the difficult fates of those who’ve preceded us, can the “Orders of Love” be reestablished and the chains of tragic destinies be broken.
We all grown up in different family systems and it is there that we developed our patterns of relating to ourselves and one another and often these patterns create future dysfunctional relationships. We want to change yet don’t know how to start, where to look, or what to do.
Entanglements in family dynamics can result in relationship difficulties between partners, parents and children, and between siblings. The work with family constellations provides the opportunity, in a powerful, safe setting, to look deeply into the entanglements of our Family of Origin as well as our current family system.
It takes one family member to change the fate for future generations.
‘ORDERS OF LOVE’
Negative effects caused by either early death, war, divorce, suicide, previous intimate relationships, exclusion, adoption, forced to leave the homeland, reasons for guilt, abuse and neglect has the ability to linger within a family for generations. Family constellations give the opportunity, in a safe environment, to deeply look into issues and restore the balance to our family of origin and our current family system. This work is done with the utmost respect for all family members present or not, alive or deceased.
Diane uses the modality of working with family constellations in individual counselling, marriage counselling and within the setting of a workshop. Workshops are held for one day and they would be smaller groups.
